Preview: Western Warriors vs. Las Vegas Wildcats
The Western Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Las Vegas Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Western pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-66 to Sunrise Mountain. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (65), Western still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dakari Gill, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of AC McDowell, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas took a serious blow against Coronado on Thursday, falling 75-43. Las Vegas has not had much luck with Coronado recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Like Las Vegas, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Tayshaun Jackson led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 3 steals. Jackson scored a full 30.2% of Las Vegas' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Bryce Davis was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Western now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Las Vegas, they now also have a losing record at 1-2.
Monday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Western have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 40.3% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Las Vegas, though, as they've only made 34.3% of theirs this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
