            Football Recap: North Pike Jaguars vs. South Jones Braves        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Natchez, North Pike was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy  21-5 win over the South Jones Braves. The Jaguars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  points they've scored all season.

A big part of North Pike's  victory came down to the chemistry between  Santonio Washington and his top target  Rashad Akerman. Washington rushed for 77 yards and one  touchdown while  Akerman picked up 84 receiving yards and one  TD. Those  84  receiving yards gave  Akerman a new career-high.
 One reason for the win was North Pike's imposing  defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Jakobe Barnes,  Tayshaun Ross,  and  D'Everett Collins, who each picked up one  sack apiece. North Pike received some extra help from  Dee Smith, whose fumble return for a touchdown  made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
North Pike's first  win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for South Jones, their  loss was their first of the  season and  makes their record 7-1.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. North Pike is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Laurel  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, South Jones will  face off against  rival Brookhaven  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  points on average (the Braves 14.1, the Panthers 11.1) so any  points scored will be well earned.
