Recap: Skyline Eagles vs. Alta Hawks
The Skyline Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Alta Hawks on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 44-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hawks. Skyline's loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Skyline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Leelu Bare. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Bare is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Chloe Quinn was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds.
Fuifuilupe Niumeitolu was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points for Alta. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Niumeitolu has scored at least 25% of Alta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Kegel, who scored eight points.
Skyline has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season. As for Alta, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will challenge East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (East is ranked 89th, while Skyline is ranked 85th). As for Alta, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
