Football Recap: East Alton-Wood River Takes a Loss + How To Watch

East Alton-Wood River extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-8. They were beaten by the Roxana Shells 55-0. The Oilers lost against the Shells in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 27-8 score last time.

As for Roxana, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Roxana found their leader in sophomore Mekhi Shorter, who rushed for 102 yards. Shorter is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 102 every time he's taken the field this season.

Coming up, East Alton-Wood River will challenge Dupo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Roxana, they will face off against Marquette Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
