Soccer Preview: Jefferson vs. Stillman Valley
The Jefferson J-Hawks will head out on the road to take on the Stillman Valley Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Jefferson kept a clean sheet against Marengo. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 2-0. The victory was just what Jefferson needed coming off of a 10-3 defeat in their prior game.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Yamilet Contreas and
Jackie Villafuerte, who scored both of Jefferson's goals. Those were goals were season-firsts for both players.
Meanwhile, Stillman Valley waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They had just enough and edged the Golden Warriors out 3-2.
The win got Jefferson back to even at 1-1. As for Stillman Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1.
Jefferson suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Stillman Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Jefferson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
