Recap: Rising Sun Shiners vs. Jac-Cen-Del Eagles
The Rising Sun Shiners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 58-39 bruising from Jac-Cen-Del. While losing is never fun, Rising Sun can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Jac-Cen-Del is ranked 102nd).
Jac-Cen-Del's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Julia Meyer, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Sophia Sullivan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
Rising Sun's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Jac-Cen-Del, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rising Sun on the road again on Saturday and play against Southwestern at 1:30 p.m. on January 20th. Southwestern will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Jac-Cen-Del, they will head out on the road to challenge South Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully South Ripley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Thursday.
