Volleyball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. Berean Christian Eagles

The Pittsburg Pirates will face off against the Berean Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Pittsburg made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Benicia, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Pittsburg put the hurt on Benicia with a sharp 3-0 win on Friday. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

Pittsburg walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-14, 25-22.

Pittsburg had a senior duo take command as Angel Garcia had 19 assists and ten digs and Angel Lozano De La Cruz had 16 assists and three digs. Those 19 assists gave Garcia a new career-high. Kenzo Macasa also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.

Pittsburg was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They are a perfect 3-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Meanwhile, Berean Christian got the win against Miramonte on Thursday by a conclusive 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now won four in a row.

Berean Christian was especially dominant in the third set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-23, 25-13.

Berean Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pittsburg, their win bumped their record up to 5-11.

Pittsburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Berean Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. Does Pittsburg have another victory up their sleeve, or will Berean Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
