Softball Game Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Santa Ana Saints

The Westminster Lions will head out to square off against the Santa Ana Saints at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

La Quinta hit Westminster with a seven-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell just short of the Aztecs by a score of 9-8.

Santa Ana couldn't beat Big Bear on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Saints and the Bears finished up their game with an 8-8 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Saints have been dealt a tie since back in February.

Santa Ana's draw gives them a new season record of 14-3-2. As for Westminster, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Everything went Westminster's way against Santa Ana when the teams last played on April 4th, as Westminster made off with a 10-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
