Softball Recap: Mansfield Comes Up Short

Mansfield extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 4-19-1. They lost 12-2 to the Boswell Pioneers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pioneers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-2 on March 3rd.

As for Boswell, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Boswell's part, Aubrie Hernandez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Samantha Cruz was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Analasia Eqsuivel, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Mansfield has already played their next game, an 11-3 defeat against Lake Ridge on the 31st. As for Boswell, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-0 win against Crowley on the 31st.
