Softball Recap: Carmel Comes Up Short

Carmel entered their game against Ketcham on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rams fell just short of the Storm by a score of 3-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Storm this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Monday.

This is the second loss in a row for Carmel and nudges their season record down to 7-3. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Ketcham, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Carmel and Ketcham should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps New York Rankings. The Rams (ranked 55th) will meet Mahopac (ranked 418th) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ketcham will take on Yorktown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (5 vs. 191). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Storm 2.6, the Huskers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
