 Newark Catholic has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will  challenge the Granville Blue Aces at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Newark Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7  runs per game  this season.
 If Newark Catholic beats Granville with eight  runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the  squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two  matches with that exact score. Newark Catholic walked away with  an   8-4  victory over Centerburg  on Tuesday.
  Avery Nagel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on eight hits.
 At the plate,  Maris Knowlton was  excellent,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Veronica Bailey, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-4.
 Meanwhile, Granville faced Watkins Memorial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. Granville fell just short of Watkins Memorial by a score of  4-3. Granville's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
 Newark Catholic has  been performing  well recently as they've  won 13 of their last 16 contests,  which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record  this season. As for Granville, their loss  ended  an  eight-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 20-3.
 Newark Catholic suffered a grim  14-0 defeat to Granville  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2023. Can Newark Catholic avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
