Volleyball Recap: Memorial's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Memorial proved they can win big on Monday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Western Reserve Blue Devils 3-2. The win was familiar territory for the Red Devils, who have now won five contests in a row.

Memorial had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 27-29, 25-22, 25-13, 15-9.

Jada Smith paced Memorial's offense, picking up 18 kills. Smith got some help from Da'Janelle Will and her 43 assists. Jayda Coriano controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Western Reserve, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Memorial is set to challenge their familiar foe Lowellville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Western Reserve will square off against rival McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
