Softball Game Preview: Livonia Bulldogs vs. Hornell Red Raiders

The Livonia Bulldogs will head out on the road to challenge the Hornell Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Livonia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Livonia took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Honeoye as they made off with a 19-1 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Livonia as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Ava Cook made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Cook was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, McKenna Collins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Alex McKeel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Livonia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Hornell was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They came up short against Haverling, falling 10-1.

Izabella Gardner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases.

Hornell now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Livonia, their record now sits at 3-4.

Livonia couldn't quite get it done against Hornell in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-5. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
