Basketball Recap: Tuscarora's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Friday

Tuscarora won the last time they faced Independence and things went their way on Friday too. The Tuscarora Huskies strolled past Independence with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Independence are ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tuscarora is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

When Tuscarora and Independence next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Tuscarora will try to stop Heritage's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Independence will try to stop Potomac Falls' three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
