Virginia Academy came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged the Springdale Prep Lions out 70-68. This was payback for the Patriots , who suffered a 78-64 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Virginia Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mike Smith out in front who posted 16 points. Rondel Jones Jr. was another key player, putting up 14 points.

When it comes to explaining why Springdale Prep lost, don't look at Kisean Robinson. Despite the final result, he put up 20 points along with five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Robinson has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Bolis Thet, who went 6 for 13 en route to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Virginia Academy has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Springdale Prep, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 17-4 record.

Virginia Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-68 defeat against Fairfax Christian on the 16th. As for Springdale Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 75-73 victory against Prince George's Christian Academy Blue on the 16th.
