Basketball Recap: Tyaiwana Ousley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Park Vista over Boca Raton

Park Vista lost against Boca Raton back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Park Vista Cobras fell 58-49 to the Boca Raton Bobcats.

Park Vista lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tyaiwana Ousley, who posted 16 points and five rebounds. The contest was her 19th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Cortes, who earned 16 points.

It was another big night for Ameera Kone, who went 13-for-25 to rack up 39 points and eight boards for Boca Raton. Kone is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 17 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Ward, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 14 points.

Park Vista's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 14-6. As for Boca Raton, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-10.

Park Vista and Boca Raton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Park Vista will square off against Cypress Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday down 115 places (220 vs. 105). Similarly, Boca Raton (ranked 232nd) will meet Miami (ranked 47th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
