Churchill County takes loss despite strong efforts from Karlie Simper and Jada Anastasio

Recap: Churchill County Greenwave vs. Lowry Buckaroos

On Friday, the Churchill County Greenwave faced the Lowry Buckaroos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Churchill County took a serious blow against Lowry, falling 76-39. Churchill County's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Churchill County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jada Anastasio, who scored 19 points along with four steals, and Karlie Simper who scored seven points along with four steals. Simper continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Leading Lowry to victory were Britain Backus and Savannah Stoker. Backus made all 6 shots she took from beyond the arc racking up 27 points and 3 assists, while Stoker scored 28 points along with nine steals and six assists. Stoker is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brinkerhoff, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Churchill County's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 14-4. As for Lowry, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Churchill County will challenge Fernley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fernley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Lowry, they will head out on the road to face off against Dayton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dayton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Lowry is ranked ninth).
