Softball Game Preview: Serena Huskers vs. Nazareth Academy Roadrunners

The Serena Huskers will head out to square off against the Nazareth Academy Roadrunners at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Serena is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Serena proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 11) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out LaSalle-Peru 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskers have posted since March 25th.

Maddie Glade spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Serena's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was RayElle Brennan, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Nazareth Academy lost 10-3 to Benet Academy on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Roadrunners in their meetings with the Redwings: they've now lost five in a row.

Serena's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Nazareth Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.

Serena was able to grind out a solid win over Nazareth Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 10-6. Do the Huskers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Roadrunners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
