Softball Game Preview: Hayesville Yellowjackets vs. Hiwassee Dam Eagles

Hayesville is 2-8 against Hiwassee Dam since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hayesville Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to challenge the Hiwassee Dam Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Hayesville has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Hayesville lost 16-3 to Hiwassee Dam on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Hiwassee Dam's part, Olivia McNabb made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). What's more, McNabb gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Sky Taylor was a standout: she scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinkley Payne4, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Hiwassee Dam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hayesville only posted an OBP of .320.

Hiwassee Dam now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hayesville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
