Softball Recap: Addison Trail's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Addison Trail dropped their record down to 7-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell 6-1 to the Downers Grove South Mustangs. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Blazers couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Downers Grove South, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

For Downers Grove South's part, Morgan Hahn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Hahn has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jordan Balsavich, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabby Ruchniewicz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Addison Trail will host Hoffman Estates at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blazers are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Downers Grove South, they will take on Leyden at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
