Volleyball Recap: Sierra Chieftains vs. Fresno Christian Eagles
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Sierra couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Fresno Christian Eagles on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Chieftains haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Sierra was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fresno Christian work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-15, 25-16.
Sierra's offense was headlined by Kinley Ferguson and Mia Bautista, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Brooke Gibson and her 14 assists. Ferguson also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Maci Watt, each putting up two.
Fresno Christian found their leader in sophomore Tatum Mcquown, who had 17 assists and five digs. Mcquown is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.
Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 32-13. As for Fresno Christian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 25-18.
Sierra does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fresno Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Mammoth on the 4th.
