Basketball Game Preview: Chancellor Chargers vs. Stafford Indians

The Chancellor Chargers will take on the Stafford Indians in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chancellor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Chancellor didn't have quite enough to beat Riverbend and fell 46-44. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Lydia Brockelbank, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Lanning, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Chancellor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Stafford hadn't done well against Brooke Point recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Stafford blew past Brooke Point 56-33. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Chancellor's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Stafford, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-2.
