Recap: Mechanicsville Mustangs vs. Atlee Raiders
The Mechanicsville Mustangs won the last time they faced the Atlee Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Mechanicsville snuck past Atlee with a 51-45 win. Given Mechanicsville's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Atlee is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mechanicsville found their leader in underclassman Kedelin Santos, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Hardwick, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Mechanicsville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Atlee, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Mechanicsville's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Eastern View at 6:00 p.m. on February 16th. Atlee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
