Volleyball Recap: Nicole Grellner and Riley Kay Secure Win for Linn

Linn hadn't done well against New Haven recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Shamrocks. The Wildcats were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Shamrocks, so the Wildcats were just returning the favor.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-9, 25-18.

Leading Linn to victory were Riley Kay and Nicole Grellner. Kay had 12 assists, while Grellner hit 58.3% for seven kills and 14 assists and eight digs. Grellner is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Linn was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as New Haven only served two aces.

Despite the loss, New Haven still got an impressive performance from Megan Hoerstkamp, who had eight digs.

The victory got Linn back to even at 5-5-1. As for New Haven, they dropped their record down to 1-9-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Linn will take on Cuba at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for New Haven, they will welcome Union at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
