The Woodland Wolves will face off against the Linden Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Woodland 3.6, Linden 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Woodland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Marysville a 4-0 shutout.
David Tanner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Tanner was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Cohen Dwyer was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was JoJo Quezada, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Linden had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it 15 on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Diamondbacks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 11th.
Like Woodland, Linden also got a great game from a two-way player: Matthew Schallberger. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Schallberger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Linden let Braden Busalacchi and Sebastian Trujillo run wild. Busalacchi went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Trujillo went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Trujillo a new career-high.
Linden lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Linden's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodland, their victory bumped their record up to 22-8.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Woodland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Linden struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
