Softball Preview: Holmes County Blue Devils vs. Northview Chiefs        
        
		
            
 The Holmes County Blue Devils are on the road again  on Tuesday to play the Northview Chiefs at 7:00  p.m. Both teams come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
 Holmes County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Thursday. They walked away with  a   4-1  victory over Jay.
  Brianna Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered one  run (which was  unearned)  on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Holmes County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Haley Williams, who  scored a  run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Kiersten Womble, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Northview earned  a  6-2 win over Freeport  on Thursday.
  Jamison Gilman made a big impact no matter where she played. She  didn't allow a single  earned run over five innings pitched. Gilman was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Chloe Ragsdale was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.  Makayla Golson was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
 Holmes County's victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 15-13. As for Northview, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Holmes County has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 8.9  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 7. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Holmes County might still be hurting after the  17-6 loss they got from Northview  when the teams last played  back in May of 2023. Thankfully for Holmes County,  Aubrey Stuckey (who  scored two  runs while going 4-for-4) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
