Softball Recap: North Central Knights vs. McBee Panthers
North Central was the 4-3 winner over McBee when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The North Central Knights took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the McBee Panthers on Thursday. North Central's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Mackenzie Melton put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Melton has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Melton was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, North Central was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McBee didn't hit any.
On McBee's side, Trinity Brigman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Lily Beasely was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Terriwin Kelly, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and a triple.
North Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for McBee, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
