Soccer Preview: Highland Tech and Shelby Square Off

The Highland Tech Rams will face off against The Shelby Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Shelby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.

Coming off a road loss, Highland Tech was happy to be home on Wednesday where their crowd gave them all the motivation they needed. They blew past East Gaston 4-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for Highland Tech's offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Shelby gave up the first goal on Wednesday, but they didn't give up any more after. They had just enough and edged out East Rutherford 2-1. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Shelby's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 66th, while East Rutherford are ranked 260th).

Shelby has kept their early-season momentum rolling, opening the year 5-1 after taking five of their first six contests. As for Highland Tech, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.
