There's no place like home for Mandeville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past the Hammond Tornadoes 14-4 on Thursday. The Skippers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by eight runs or more this season.
Bailor Wells looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Ava Swift was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mia Graefenstein, who scored four runs while going 3-for-4.
Mandeville's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Hammond, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mandeville will face off against Bourgeois at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hammond, they will take on Ponchatoula at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
