Softball Recap: Crook County Comes Up Short

Crook County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the La Grande Tigers. If the Cowboys were looking for revenge after losing 10-0 to the Tigers when the teams met back in May of 2018, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Chloe McKenzie was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

Crook County's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for La Grande, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crook County will venture away from home to face off against Baker/Powder Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Grande, they will head out to challenge Fruitland at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
