Baseball Recap: Cascade Has No Trouble Against Parke Heritage

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cascade). They blew past the Parke Heritage Wolves 20-2 on Thursday. Considering the Cadets have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Davis Hart made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hart was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Marcus Hobson and Toby Savini did most of the damage at the plate: Hobson went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double, while Savini got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Hobson a new career-high. Cort Hubner was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double.

Cascade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parke Heritage only posted an OBP of .286.

The victory made it two in a row for Cascade and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Parke Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cascade will venture away from home to face off against Lafayette Jefferson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Parke Heritage, they will head out to take on Covington at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
