Softball Recap: Otay Ranch Comes Up Short

Otay Ranch managed to slip by Cathedral Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost 8-1 to the Dons on Thursday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dons earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Otay Ranch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylin Phillips, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Otay Ranch now has a losing record of 7-8-1. As for Cathedral Catholic, their record now sits at 11-6.

Coming up, Otay Ranch will take on Mar Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.57 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cathedral Catholic, they will challenge Point Loma at 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
