Baseball Recap: Montgomery Central Comes Up Short

Montgomery Central extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 9-18 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Clarksville Wildcats. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Indians haven't been shut out since back in March.

Montgomery Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evander Powers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for Clarksville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 17 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Clarksville, who have now won 19 games by six runs or more so far this season.

On Clarksville's side, they got a great performance from Dawson Smith as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Smith has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kirk Weatherford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Benton Barksdale, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montgomery Central will welcome Northwest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clarksville, they will host Christ Presbyterian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
