Basketball Recap: McAllen Memorial Comes Up Short

McAllen Memorial suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 65-45 to the McAllen Bulldogs. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

McAllen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from D'aundre Canada, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Canada a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Babat Akindayomi, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

McAllen Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 13-13. As for McAllen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sharyland the next time they take the court. McAllen Memorial will head out to face Sharyland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while McAllen will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th.
