Baseball Recap: Lumberton Takes a Loss

Lumberton had taken Purnell Swett down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Pirates took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 1, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Lumberton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Griffin, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Griffin is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played.

Lumberton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Purnell Swett, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season.

Purnell Swett didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Hoke County on the 22nd. Hopefully Lumberton paid attention to the Rams' matchup: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
