Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Prospect Ridge Academy Miners

The Roosevelt Roughriders will face off against the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Roosevelt 3.3, Prospect Ridge Academy 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Prospect Ridge Academy will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Roosevelt extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday. The Roughriders put the hurt on Fort Morgan with a sharp 15-4 victory. Considering the Roughriders have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Mylander was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other pitching news, Wyatt McNerney looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Stevie Kreimer and Mason Sauer did most of the damage at the plate: Kreimer scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Sauer scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Bradberry, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Roosevelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Prospect Ridge Academy suffered their closest defeat since April 13, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Denver Christian by a score of 9-7.

Roosevelt pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
