Softball Game Preview: Owego Free Academy River Hawks vs. Waverly Wolverines

The Owego Free Academy River Hawks will head out to square off against the Waverly Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Owego Free Academy's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Waverly's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Owego Free Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Elmira hitters got past them. The River Hawks lost 12-6 to the Express on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the River Hawks have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Meanwhile, Waverly started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Chenango Valley. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors on Wednesday. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Owego Free Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2. As for Waverly, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Owego Free Academy suffered a grim 17-11 defeat to Waverly when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the River Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
