Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Gators vs. Brush Arcs

The Laurel Gators will take on the Brush Arcs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Laurel is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since December 3, 2024 on Saturday. They blew past Lutheran East 65-40. The win was all the more spectacular given the Gators 's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 178th, while the Falcons are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Brush came tearing into Saturday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Kennedy Catholic as they made off with a 68-44 victory. The Arcs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 24 points or more this season.

Brush's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Laurel, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.

Laurel was able to grind out a solid win over Brush when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 68-59. Does Laurel have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brush turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
