Basketball Recap: Woodlawn Comes Up Short

Woodlawn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 70-53 to the Dieterich Movin Maroons. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their defeat to the Movin Maroons from their previous meeting back in February of 2024.

Lucas Westendorf continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Dieterich, almost dropping a double-double with 35 points and nine rebounds. The match was Westendorf's fifth in a row with at least 15 points. Brock Niemerg was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Woodlawn's loss dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Dieterich, they pushed their record up to 22-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Woodlawn will head out to face off against New Athens at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Athens' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven contests. As for Dieterich, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-45 victory against Grayville on the 20th.
