Basketball Recap: West Phoenix Eagles vs. Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way
The West Phoenix Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 69-61 to Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way. While losing is never fun, West Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the are ranked fifth).
It was another big night for TJ Clark, who scored 21 points along with two steals for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Long, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
West Phoenix has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, the victory (which was their 20th in a row) raised their record to 25-1.
West Phoenix will play host again and welcome the Bears, where tip off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Bella Vista College Preparatory School's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, they will head out on the road to square off against the Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
