Soccer Game Preview: Southside vs. Ascension Episcopal

The Southside Sharks will head out on the road to square off against Ascension Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Southside's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Acadiana Renaissance Charter Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southside.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ascension Episcopal). They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Westgate on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Ascension Episcopal's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Southside, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1-1.

Southside took their win against Ascension Episcopal when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sharks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
