Volleyball Recap: Gateway Takes Down Lake Wales in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Gateway walked away with it. They came out on top against the Lake Wales Highlanders by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday. The win was nothing new for the Panthers as they're now sitting on six straight.

While Gateway might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Lake Wales scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20.

Ivana Reyes paced Gateway's offense, picking up 19 kills. Reyes got some help from Gabriela Alvarez and her 20 assists. Alvarez and Reyes didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Lake Wales, they dropped their record down to 13-13 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Gateway nor the Highlanders have any future games scheduled.
