The Powell County Pirates will be playing at home against the Wolfe County Wolves at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Powell County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
Powell County fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Breathitt County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 80-77. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (72), Powell County still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Wolfe County managed to keep up with Rockcastle County until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Wolfe County's rough 69-45 loss to Rockcastle County might stick with them for a while.
Despite the defeat, Wolfe County saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Creech almost dropped a double-double on nine steals and nine blocks. It was the first time this season that Creech posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Camden Oliver, who scored 12 points.
Powell County's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Wolfe County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
