Arizona vs. New Jersey clash is one of the biggest high school football games of the weekend.
A pair of nationally-ranked, high school football powerhouses riding double-digit win streaks collide Friday as No. 19
Bergen Catholic (Oradell, N.J.) travels west to take on No. 14
Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.).
Bergen Catholic (1-0) has won its last 14 games dating back to 2020, including last week's 49-14 pounding of Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, N.C.). In that contest, three different quarterbacks (
Dominic Campanile,
Jack Duffy,
Nigel Jennings) combined to complete 17 of 22 attempts for 310 yards and a touchdown.
During the Crusaders' current win streak, they have won 12 of the 14 contests by double digits. That includes a 28-7 win over Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey) in last year's Non-Public A championship game.
Saguaro (0-0) won its last 10 games of the 2021 season en route to the Open Division state title. The Sabercats have a dynamic playmaker at quarterback in
Devon Dampier, who has thrown and run for over 3,200 yards and 37 touchdowns in his career.
