Soccer Recap: Centralia Comes Up Short

After flying high against East Alton-Wood River on Wednesday, Centralia came back down to earth. The Orphans fell just short of the Carbondale Terriers by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Carbondale this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on Tuesday.

Centralia has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4-2 record this season. As for Carbondale, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centralia will head out to face off against Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Centralia will be up against Anna-Jonesboro/Cobden's rather soft defense (which has allowed 4.3 goals per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Carbondale, they will venture away from home to square off against Vienna/Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
