Basketball Game Preview: St. Henry Redskins vs. Van Wert Cougars

The St. Henry Redskins and the Van Wert Cougars will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Van Wert took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on St. Henry, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, St. Henry was able to grind out a solid win over Parkway, taking the game 44-34. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Austin Zimmerman and Keith Siefring were among the main playmakers for St. Henry as the former went 6 for 10 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds and the latter posted eight points and five steals. Those 19 points gave Zimmerman a new career-high. Carson Harrod was another key player, putting up four points.

Meanwhile, Van Wert came up short against Shawnee on Friday and fell 82-69. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Indians are ranked 17th).

St. Henry's win bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Van Wert, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 8-11.

Everything came up roses for St. Henry against Van Wert in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 74-39 victory. Does St. Henry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Van Wert turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
