Basketball Recap: Atron Eubanks Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat East Lake

East Lake typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Boca Ciega proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the East Lake Eagles by a score of 59-51. For the Pirates, this counts as revenge for the 63-49 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Boca Ciega's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Atron Eubanks led the charge by putting up 17 points. The dominant performance gave Eubanks a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Keena Taylor, who posted 12 points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Bryant, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Bryant is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in the last seven games he's played. Andre Willis was another key player, scoring 14 points.

Boca Ciega has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for East Lake, they moved to 17-6 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Boca Ciega has already played their next game, a 72-66 victory against Dunedin on the 27th. As for East Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-43 win against Palm Harbor University on the 28th.
