Softball Game Preview: Sunny Hills Lancers vs. Sonora Raiders

The Sunny Hills Lancers will face off against the Sonora Raiders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunny Hills is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Villa Park hit Sunny Hills with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lancers fell 9-6 to the Spartans.

Riley Gonzalez and Elayna Marquez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Marquez went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That home run was Gonzalez's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samaya Holguin, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Sonora's offense. They fell just short of El Dorado by a score of 1-0 on Thursday.

Sunny Hills now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Sonora, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season.

Sunny Hills skirted past Sonora 3-2 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
