Softball Recap: Capuchino Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

While Capuchino's win against Woodside wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 3-1. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Lola Sierra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Star Gutierrez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Motroni, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Capuchino hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Capuchino pushed their record up to 20-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Woodside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Capuchino nor Woodside have any future games scheduled.
