Baseball Recap: Lewisburg Starts Season with Win at Home

Lewisburg gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 16-5 margin over the East Juniata Tigers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Green Dragons as it spelled an end to their 20-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Cohen Hoover was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single hit, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landen Wagner, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Landynn Bieber, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Lewisburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Juniata only posted an OBP of .444.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewisburg will face off against Juniata at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for East Juniata, they will challenge Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be East Juniata's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
